After putting off this blog over and over AND OVER again, I finally found the motivation to get this thing going. While getting my insomnia on last night, I watched a story on ABC's World News Now about a wonderful lady named Olivia Neubauer. For the last 77 (yes SEVENTY-SEVEN) years, Miss Neubauer has been an educator. Waking up every morning at 6am to go out and fill her spirit with joy via teaching young people. She is a true example of why I started this blog.
Going to work everyday should not feel like a chore, but rather a blessing, a gift, and a requirement for happiness. Too often do I come into contact with people who moan and groan about their day to day life based on their lack of satisfaction with their jobs. Why is it ok to be miserable at a place that we are required to spend the majority of our time at?
When I lost my job I reacted very different than most. I was ecstatic!!! I sat there with the most serious face I could muster up while holding myself back from jumping up and doing cartwheels, the tootsie roll and the cha cha slide all at once. Ever since I was a child I have always dreamed of being Olivia Neubauer. I new from day one that going to work everyday at a job that I hated was NOT an option, but someway somehow I ended up doing just that. At some point we have to realize that we control our lives. Not our money, not our status, not others expectation of what we should be doing, but you, YES YOU control your life and how happy you are with it.
After losing a job, starting a business and putting off this blog for months I think I'm officially ready to start my quest to find my own version of Olivia Neubauer. Being unemployed and loving it is not about not having a job, but about doing something everyday that is not only fulfilling to your spirit, but useful in bringing you closer to your purpose and allowing you to grow as a person in general. (I'm turning into Oprah..oops here she comes sorry i couldn't stop it!!) Everyone is put on this earth to contribute SOMETHING. It may be something big, it may be something small who really knows? What I do know is that if what you are doing makes you feel miserable then that is not what's you are meant to do. I'm not saying that everyone needs to run out and try to become the next Bill Gates or Oprah. You may enjoy being a secretary and be VERY good at it, which is fine as long as you are happy.
So with that said, take a moment to watch this story and be inspired to be who it is that you are meant to be. I will try my best to use this blog as a place that not only showcases people who have stepped out on faith and followed their dreams, but also various resources that can help you in finding your own way. (P.S. I'm not this serious all the time so there will be some comedy and fun thrown in the mix as well)
Have a great day and be productive!
